Planned Giving

Thank you for your interest in the United Way. Our hope is to serve you and your family with helpful information. We have an increasing number of friends at the United Way who now are benefiting from life income gifts, gift annuities and other plans. Thank you for taking the time to explore the benefits of gift planning. United Way of Blount County is currently structuring several vehicles for planned giving with something for everyone. When speaking to your financial advisor, there are already several options for making a lasting gift to United Way:

UNITED WAY OF BLOUNT COUNTY
COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND

Gifts to this fund are distributed yearly to social service programs benefiting Blount County. Local volunteers annually research and audit the programs to determine that donor funds are being used responsibly.

UNITED WAY OF BLOUNT
COUNTY FUTURE FUND

Gifts made to this fund grow over time, while utilizing the interest to continue the work of United Way of Blount County.

 United Way of Blount County recognizes individuals and households who make gifts of $1,000 or more to United Way of Blount County. These are local philanthropic leaders and volunteer champions who have devoted time, talent, and funds to create long-lasting changes by tackling the most serious issues of our community:

THE PILLARS SOCIETY

The Pillars Society, which began in 1985, is made up of three giving levels that include The Bronze Level ($1,000 - $2,499), The Silver Level ($2,500 - $4,999), The Gold Level ($5,000 - $9,999). Currently we have 374 members contributing $545,735.

THE ALEXIS DE TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY

The United Way Tocqueville Society was formed in 1997 to deepen individual understanding of, commitment to, and support the work of United Way. Membership in the Tocqueville Society is granted to individuals who contribute at least $10,000.00 annually to United Way of Blount County. Currently we have 16 members contributing $222,421.

Campaign Divisions

PACESETTER CAMPAIGN

A group of companies/organizations that run its employee campaign in the month of August before the general campaign kicks off to help set the pace. This group is made up of approximately half from Major Firms and the other half from the other divisions of the campaign.

MAJOR FIRMS

This division consists of the 8-10 largest accounts for United Way.

COMMERCE

This division is your mid-size and smaller businesses by trade groups: finance, real estate, retail, transportation, communications and insurance.

INDUSTRY

This division consists of mid-size and smaller businesses in building trades and industry.

GENERAL BUSINESS

These are small businesses including retail and restaurants. They are also structured by geographic solicitation.

PROFESSIONAL

This division includes physicians, attorneys, dentists, accountants, architects, engineers and other miscellaneous professionals.

PUBLIC SERVICE

This division is made up of all government employees, all public and private school personnel, colleges and nonprofits.

SPECIAL GIFTS/RESIDENTIAL

This division includes individuals, retirees and civic clubs.

THE PILLARS SOCIETY

This division is made up of leadership givers (individuals and/or households) that give $1,000 or more to United Way.

ALEXIS DE TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY

This division includes leadership givers (individuals and/or households) that give $10,000 or more to United Way.

CHAMPIONS

This is a group of individuals who communicate with the business community, serve as advocates for United Way, participate in events and assist with the campaign.

MEETING SPONSORS

A group of companies that gives $350 above and beyond its corporate gift to cover all the meals at meetings that United Way has over the course of a year.

COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

This volunteer committee is responsible for getting the United Way message out. They produce all marketing materials and work closely with all media.

SPECIAL EVENTS

This division is made up of various special fundraising events held throughout the year. Money raised goes toward the annual campaign.

Workplace campaigns enable employers and employees to receive valuable information about the needs being addressed in our community, to have the opportunity to positively affect lives, and to contribute to UWBC through the convenience of payroll deductions.
